Service Description

While it can be hard to quantify suspension fork performance, we all notice when they do not work. Over time, dirt and moisture find a way in. As heat from friction breaks down the oil and grease, the seals begin to degrade. If left untouched, metal parts begin to wear and metal coatings lose their effectiveness. An annual overhaul service can keep the fork running like new, and keep it protected from wear on crucial internal surfaces. Forks will be cleaned prior to disassembly, and inspected for damage or wear. The external stanchion seals you can see on most forks are called Dust Wipers. This standard overhaul will include new dust wipers from SKF, as well as new foam rings to keep plenty of bath oil up high in your fork. Factory seal drivers are used here to insure the seal seats correctly and doesn't damage the bushing. After a thorough cleaning, the air piston assembly will receive fresh orings and grease, as well as a wear-resistant quad seal when appropriate. Here is where most travel changes occur, so let us know if you're interested in more suspension travel. The damper side of the fork has some variation, however all will be cleaned and refilled with full synthetic damper specific fluids Cartridge dampers will be bled to keep them free from air, using a vacuum bleed/fill system. Once forks are reassembled, they receive fresh bath oil and crush washers for the foot nuts. The fork is set up for your body weight according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Finally, the fork is wiped down and ready to be reinstalled.
